Dear Co-laborers,
Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ! It is our pleasure to send this mail to you at last. KoNext exists to connect the first and the second-generation Korean-American community for the glory of God.
We recognize a shortage of the next generation rising up to be equipped and to be trained for the work of ministry. This is evident as we look at the plummeting enrollment numbers of Korean-Americans within seminaries. This is why we want to partner up with the Korean-American local churches of the Southern Baptist Convention to supplement our churches to seek out and to stimulate those who are considering full-time ministry in the future.
This year, KoNext is partnering up with the Youth Ministry Lab (YML) at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary to hold our very first KoNext Youth Leadership Conference (KYLC). The YML will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2018; it has rich history in building up student pastors, student ministry leaders and students themselves. Participants of KYLC will join the worship with YML, but will have separate breakout sessions. In order to assist our churches across the nation in stimulating those students who are considering pastoral ministry, we are striving to do two things: 1) Develop right questions; 2) connect students to seminarians. First, through the five breakout sessions, we desire to lead our participants to be able to ask the right questions. Being able to ask the right questions is crucial in preparing for full-time ministry. Second, we want to connect students who are interested in full-time ministry, yet who are scattered throughout the nation. In addition, students will have and get to know older brothers and sisters in Christ who are already enrolled at seminary. We truly believe that, through this gospel partnership, we will be able to witness a larger number of enrollments of Korean-American students in seminaries. So please consider partnering with us. May the Lord call and build up His servants!
