영어 선교 캠프 전, 김제이 목사가 이끄는  전교생 대상 수련회 + 두 차례의 영어캠프

오는 6월, 멕시코 치아파스(Chiapas)에서 열리는 ‘2026 멕시코 단기선교 영어 캠프’ 참가자 모집이 시작됐다. 특히 이 선교에는 미주 한인 교회 목회자 자녀(PK)를 대상으로 항공권을 포함한 전 비용을 장학금으로 지원하는 파격적인 혜택이 포함되어 주목을 받고 있다.

익투스 기독 학교와 함께하는 영어 선교 캠프

이번 단기선교는 멕시코 치아파스에 위치한 익투스 기독 학교(Centro Educativo Ichthus)와 협력해 진행된다. 익투스 교육 센터는 예수님의 지상 대명령에 기초한 선교적 삶을 실천하기 위해 이용영 선교사가 2005년 설립한 학교로, 같은 해 9월 정부 교육 당국으로부터 공식 인가를 받았다. 학교 이름 ‘ICHTHUS’는 예수(Iesous), 그리스도(CHristo), 하나님(THeou), 아들(Uios), 구세주(Soter)의 머리글자를 딴 것으로, 사랑·섬김·정직·예수 그리스도를 향한 신앙이라는 핵심 가치 위에 세워졌다. 학교의 사명은 대위임령에 기반한 선교적 삶의 실천에 있으며, 지역 주민을 제자로 양육해 현지 공동체 안에서 복음을 전하는 자생적 선교 모델을 지향한다.

영어 캠프는 2026년 6월 13일(토)부터 27일(토)까지 2주간 운영된다. 일반 참가자는 원하는 주차를 선택해 참여할 수 있다.

• 1주차 (Team A): 6월 13일(토) ~ 6월 20일(토)
• 2주차 (Team B): 6월 20일(토) ~ 6월 27일(토)

캠프에 앞서 김제이 목사(버지니아제일침례, VA)는 6월 6일부터 13일까지 익투스 전교생을 대상으로 한 수련회를 별도로 인도한 뒤, 이어지는 2주간의 영어 캠프를 이끌 예정이다.

PK 전액 장학 지원…항공권까지 포함

이번 선교의 가장 눈에 띄는 특징은 미주 한인 교회 PK(목회자 자녀)를 대상으로 한 전액 장학 지원이다. 항공권을 포함한 모든 비용이 지원되며, PK는 2주 전 일정(6/13~6/27) 전체 참가가 필요하다. 일반 참가자의 경우 숙박과 식사는 제공되며, 항공권만 개인 부담이다. 항공권은 원활한 운영을 위해 행정팀이 일괄 구매할 예정이며, 결제 방식은 추후 안내된다.

참가 자격

참가 대상은 고등학교를 졸업한 만 18세 이상의 성인으로, △하나님과의 개인적인 신앙 관계를 가진 분 △영어로 유창하게 소통할 수 있는 분 △현지 학생들과 함께하는 사역에 열정이 있는 분 △찬양팀 경험이 있는 분을 우선으로 모집한다. 하나님의 역사를 직접 경험하고, 영어 캠프를 통한 선교에 헌신하길 원하는 모든 분의 지원을 환영한다.

마감 전에 서둘러야 할 결정적 이유: 2026 FIFA 월드컵

참가 신청을 서두를 이유가 하나 더 있다. 2026년 FIFA 월드컵이 미국·캐나다·멕시코 3개국 공동 개최로 진행되는 만큼, 6월 멕시코행 항공권은 이미 수요가 폭증하고 있는 상황이다. 치아파스 현지 공항(TGZ)까지의 항공편은 경유 노선이 대부분인 데다, 월드컵 특수로 인한 항공권 가격 급등과 좌석 부족이 심화될 것으로 예상된다. 선교팀은 이에 대비해 항공권을 조기에 일괄 구매할 방침이며, 신청자는 모집 마감일인 3월 31일(화) 이전에 반드시 등록을 완료해야 한다.

Registration is now open for the 2026 Mexico Mission Trip English Camp, set to take place this coming June in Chiapas, Mexico. The trip is drawing significant attention for its unprecedented offer of a full scholarship — including airfare — exclusively for PKs (pastors’ kids) from Korean-American churches across the United States.

An English Mission Camp in Partnership with Centro Educativo Ichthus

The mission trip will be carried out in partnership with Centro Educativo Ichthus, a Christian school located in Chiapas, Mexico. The school was founded in 2005 by missionary Lee Yong-Young with the purpose of living out a missionary life rooted in the Great Commission of Jesus Christ. It received official accreditation from the government’s educational authority in September of the same year. The name “ICHTHUS” is an acronym drawn from the words Iesous (Jesus), CHristo (Christ), THeou (God), Uios (Son), and Soter (Savior) — a school built upon the core values of love, service, honesty, and faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. The school’s mission centers on discipling local residents to share the gospel within their own communities, embodying a self-sustaining model of indigenous mission.

Camp Schedule: Two Weeks, June 13–27

The English camp will run from Saturday, June 13, through Saturday, June 27, 2026. General participants may choose to join for either week.

• Week 1 (Team A): June 13 (Sat) – June 20 (Sat)
• Week 2 (Team B): June 20 (Sat) – June 27 (Sat)

Prior to the English camp, Pastor Jay Kim of First Virginia Baptist Church (VA) will lead a school-wide retreat for all Ichthus students from June 6 to 13, before transitioning into the two-week English camp.

Full Scholarship for PKs — Airfare Included

The most notable feature of this year’s trip is the full scholarship available to PKs from Korean-American churches. All expenses, including airfare, will be covered, and PKs are strongly encouraged to participate in the full two-week program (June 13–27). General participants will have accommodations and meals provided, with only airfare as a personal expense. To ensure smooth logistics, all flight tickets will be purchased collectively by the administrative team, with payment details to be announced at a later date.

Who Can Apply

The trip is open to adults who have graduated high school and are 18 years of age or older. Priority will be given to those who: have a personal relationship with God; are fluent in English; have a heart for working with local students; and have experience serving on a praise team. Anyone with a desire to witness God at work firsthand and to serve through an English camp ministry is warmly encouraged to apply.

A Critical Reason to Act Fast: The 2026 FIFA World Cup

There is one more compelling reason not to delay. With the 2026 FIFA World Cup being co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, demand for flights to Mexico this June has already begun to spike. Flights to the local Chiapas airport (TGZ) are predominantly connecting routes, and the World Cup effect is expected to drive airfare prices significantly higher while available seats grow scarcer by the day. The mission team plans to purchase tickets early through a group booking, which makes it all the more urgent for prospective participants to complete their registration before the deadline of Tuesday, March 31.
